Reelette Privacy Policy

What Reelette does

Reelette helps you import posts you've already saved on Instagram and TikTok so you can use them as challenges within the app. To do that, the browser extension (and, on Android, the in-app import screen) reads your saved-posts list directly from instagram.com and tiktok.com, using the same logged-in session you already have open in your browser, the same way any page you visit reads your session. Reelette never asks for, sees, or stores your Instagram or TikTok password.

An account is entirely optional. Reelette works fully offline, with no sign-in of any kind, exactly as described in the sections below. Creating an account only adds cross-device sync and the social features (friends, leaderboards, sending a reel to someone, spinning together) described in "If you create an account."

What we access locally, always (no account needed)

We do not access your camera, microphone, contacts, location, photos, or any other app or account beyond the saved-posts data described above.

Without an account, none of this ever leaves your device. Imported posts are stored locally: in your browser's extension storage, and (for the iOS/macOS app) in an on-device App Group shared between the extension and the app. They're only ever transferred from the extension to the app on the same device, never over the network. Deleting the app or extension deletes this data.

On Android, saved-post text is processed on-device using Google's ML Kit text recognition to read text from thumbnails; this runs locally and does not send images or text off your device.

If you create an account

Signing in (email/password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google) is optional and layers sync + social features on top of the local app. It never replaces or uploads your saved-posts library itself. Creating an account sends the following to our backend provider, Supabase, which stores it on our behalf:

This data is used only to make the app work: syncing your progress across devices, showing friends their shared leaderboard, delivering a sent reel. We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it, and we don't share it with anyone beyond Supabase, our backend hosting provider, acting solely on our behalf to store and serve it. See Supabase's own privacy policy for how they handle data they process for us.

What we don't do

Your control over your data

Children's privacy

Reelette is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If what Reelette accesses or how it's stored changes, this document will be updated accordingly.
